The last week of the hard water season for game species treated most anglers quite well in the Goose Island area.  Steady weather, low winds and warm temps towards the late week provided anglers with opportunities to fish outside and expand on specific areas.  Ice depths now are currently sitting in the 32-24 inch range.  With the snow settling towards the end of the week, off road traffic with 4wd is becoming a little more easy.

We made somewhat of a major move and set most of our sleeper houses in deeper water east of the snake pits.  Best bite windows were early morning and the last hour to two hours of the evening.  Actively jigging smaller jigging spoons with a full minnow were most productive.  Pounding the bottom into the sand or mud seemed to help attract attention when things slowed down.  Walleye catches increased this weekend as well.  Best results came right during sundown or right before sun up actively jigging.  A few eelpout were reported with most coming during the middle of the night hours actively jigging close to the bottom on glow lures with multiple minnows.

As we close the lid to the rental season, we want to thank all of our customers for a fun, safe and successful ice season.  As always, it goes by super fast.  Please reach out to us if you would like to get on our calendar for the 2025/2026 season!

February 16th, 2025

Cold weather dominated for much of the week, having a mixed result on fishing throughout the week.  Ice depths are now in the 30+ inch range and extensions on augers are needed while drilling out wheel houses.  If you are not drilling out an actual house, extensions are not needed yet, however may be in the near future.  Off road traffic is still available in most areas, just watch out for the higher drift areas.

As for the bite, most anglers were successfully able to catch numbers of perch with some doing better than others.  Renters who fished multiple days were able to find a few active waves of perch each day.  For the most part, dead sticks with a plain hook were most affective.  Walleye reports were still very limited, with only a few caught during the evening and overnight hours.  Northern Pike still remain active in the area as well, however most caught are in the protected slot of 22-26 inches.  A few eelpout are being caught during the overnight hours as they slowly migrate to Walker Bay to spawn.  Actively jigging a larger glow in the dark jigging spoon with multiple minnows has worked best.

We still have limited availability for the last week of gamefish season through the weekend.  Give us a call if youd like to get out for the day or for the entire weekend!

February 10th, 2025

The last 2 snow falls accompanied by heavy wind have made off road traffic a little more difficult on the main lake.  4wd is now needed in almost all areas.  Ice conditions continue to improve with ice depths now reaching close to the 30 inch range.  Extensions are not yet needed but will be in the upcoming week or so when drilling out of hard sided houses.

Perch reports continued to be strong through the week.  Best depths are still coming from deeper water in 16-20ft.  Set lines with a large fathead or rainbow minnow produced best followed up with a jigging spoon of choice with a minnow head. Walleye reports were slow, but best action came during the overnight hours in shallow water less than 10ft.  Eelpout action is starting to pick up in the night time hours.  Actively jigging for them with bright glow spoons and multiple minnows have been the ticket.

Only a couple weeks left of Walleye season.  We will be mainly targeting perch from here forward.  The best bite of the year is still to come.  We have a few sleepers and day houses left for the last 2 weekends and plenty of availability during the week.  Let us know if youd like to get out!

February 2nd, 2025

Wind, Wind and more Wind.  Winds from every different direction made fishing a little unpredictable.  Even with the wind and recent fresh snowfall Saturday fishing remained very good for Perch out of Andersons Pine Point Resort.  The snow and wind has caused some drifting in the Goose Island area but as of yet off road traffic is still possible in almost all areas.

The best perch reports again came from the deeper water.  16-20ft using jigging spoons and minnow heads or set lines with a larger minnow worked best for bigger perch.  Colors of green glow or orange glow during the low light hours and then gold or silver during the day have been working best.  Walleye reports improved a little this week, set lines on tip ups away from the house, or a set line with a large shiner or sucker minnow during he evening and overnight hours.

Walker Bay ice conditions are in great shape with 20+ inches of ice being reported in most areas.  Walleye and Perch bites have been best in the Cedar and Sand Point areas in 10-12 ft areas where sand meets the weeds.  Eelpout are starting to show up on the Cedar shoreline on the sharp breaks in 18-30ft.

We still have limited availability for the last few weeks of february.  Give us a call to book your next day house or sleeper rental.

January 26th, 2025

Up and down temps this week resulted in mixed results in the bite this week out of Andersons Pine Point Resort.  Cold spells followed up with brief warmups and high winds all week made for inconsistent action with the Perch bite and also with Walleyes.  Ice depths towards the end of the week were in the 25 inch range.  A few of the smaller cracks and heaves in the Goose Island area moved a bit but for the most part are passible in certain areas.

The best perch bite occured in areas of 15-20ft of water using gold jigging spoons and minnow heads, or a plastic of any kind that resembled a crayfish or bloodworm.  Colors such as red, orange or green worked best.  Mid morning hours and the last hour or so of evening before dark were best.  The walleye bite was a bit better this week, fish all the way up to 27 inches were reported.  Almost all fish were caught during the evening and overnight hours.

Walker Bay provided some walleye action over the week.  Best depths were 25-30ft on humps that have not been fished yet, followed by shoreline breaks around the Cedar Point area in 22-30ft.  Dead sticks and a small shiner on any kind of glow jig was the top producer.  Perch action on the north end has still been slow, but should pick up in the upcoming weeks.

We still have limited availability on most weekends moving forward.  Please contact us if you are looking to get out!

January 19th, 2025

Early week above average temps followed by extreme cold conditions end of the week provided mixed results in fishing action.  Extreme high winds Friday and Saturday caused a bit of drifting snow but as of now off road travel remains an option across the entire lake.  Ice depths are well into the 20+ inch range and all size vehichle and fish house traffic is allowed out of the resort.

As far as the bite, the perch bite was very good early in the week in the 14-16ft deeper water areas.  Jigging spoons with a minnow head or plastic produced best.  When the wind and the cold came friday afternoon into the weekend the bite slowed a bit, and deadsticks with a single plain hook were most productive in the mid morning hours.  Northern Pike have remained active in the area.  Tip ups with a small sucker minnow or a large shiner is a safe bet to provide action during the daylight hours.  Walleye reports have still been a bit limited, but the best reports came from the Snake Pit area in 13-15ft.  Evening hours actively jigging glow spoons with a full minnow provided the best results.

Walker Bay Ice conditions have greatly improved, with vehichle traffic being utilized in most areas.

We still have limited availability for the end of January and February.  Give us a call or shoot us a message to book your sleeper or day house on Leech Lake

January 12th, 2025

The second week of the new year brought even better ice conditions and a little snow for banking houses!  Ice depths now in the Goose Island area are generally around 19-21 inches.  We did receive about 4-5 inches of snow last night, which is helpful for banking.  We are currently not plowing any roads yet but will update if we do so.

The perch bite in the Grand View Flats area has remained strong all week.  Fatheads or smaller medium sized shiner minnows actively jigged on choice jigging spoons or a set under a bobber with a plain hook have been baits of choice.  Depths in the 12-14ft range have been the most productive just off of shallow structure.  Walleye reports have still been scarce but a few have been caught on set lines during evening and overnight hours on dead sticks.  Eelpout reports are becoming a bit more limited with only a few being caught now in the overnight hours.

Walker Bay Ice conditions have improved as well with some vehichle traffic now being seen.  Main basin areas have around 12-14 inches in most areas.  As always in the bay, there are areas of thinner ice in certain areas.  Please check ice as you go. Best bets for Walleyes are Cedar, Sand and Templar Points in 20-30ft of water during the evening hours. The Onigum cut-across from Walker City Park to the Onigum shoreline is now open to vehicle traffic.

The lodge at Pine Point is open Fri-Sun offering food, drinks and pull tabs each weekend now through the end of the season!  We have limited availability during the week this week and next, so please let us know soon if you'd like to get out and enjoy some great winter perch fishing by calling or sending us a message!

January 5th, 2025

As we head into the new year, ice conditions on Leech Lake are looking great.  Aside from a few active heaves in certain isolated areas on the main lake, the rest remains solid with 15-17" being reported in most areas.

Currently in the Goose Island area, we are at a consistent 16+ inches of ice in most areas.  We currently have no restrictions for size of vehichles or houses but please check ice as you go into more isolated areas that have less traffic.  A few minor cracks in the area have mostly healed up with the colder weather and can be navigated over or around to get to most popular fishing areas.  Best reports for Perch are coming from the 12-14ft areas in and around Grand View Flats.  The mid morning bite has been best but overall the bite has been consistent from sun up to sun down.  Top producing lures remain any type of gold or silver jigging spoon tipped with a fathead or head of a minoow.  A single plain #6 hook on a set line is working as well.  Walleye reports have been limited, with just a few being caught during the evening and overnight hours in our sleeper houses.  Eelpout have been active in the area as well.  Glow spoons actively jigged at or on the bottom have been most productive.

Walker Bay ice conditions continue to improve.  Most areas now have a consistent 10-12" with more being reported closer to shore.  Cedar Point and Breezy Point have been best for walleyes during low light periods in 20-25ft jigging smaller glow spoons with a minnow head.  The Sand Point area in 10-12ft in sand/weed transition areas have also been productive during evening hours.  Right now ATV and UTV traffic is all that is advised.  Light vehicle traffic will more than likely be seen by mid week.

We still have limited availability for the next couple weeks.  Give us a call or shoot us a message to book your sleeper or day house and get in on the action!

December 29, 2024

Happy New Year! The new ice fishing season has started out strong.  Cold weather and not much snow have produced favorable ice conditions across the entire lake.  We are looking forward to having a normal ice fishing season after last years poor ice conditions.

We currently have a consistent 14-16" of ice in the Goose Island / Pine Point area.  There are a few minor cracks and small heaves that we are navigating around in certain areas but for the most part, most areas are accessible.  There is one major heave in the Little Hardwoods area which runs east towards the Duck Point area.  We have not attempted to find a way across yet but will be planning to do so in the upcoming weeks.

The perch bite has started out with a bang, with most renters already reporting good numbers of jumbo perch throughout the day.  The Grand View Flats area in 13-14ft has been most productive.  Gold or Silver jigging spoons such as a Clam Pinhead Pro or Northland Buckshot Rattle spoon tipped with a minnow head are working best. Set lines with a green #6 plain hook and a bigger fathead or rainbow minnow have been top producers.  Walleyes reports have been limited, but best action has been during the overnight hours on set lines with a larger minnor such as a shiner or larger rainbow.  Northern Pike have been very active at all times of day, unfortunately most of them have been within the protected 22-26" slot.

We will continue to update ice conditions frequently as we move into the season. There is currently zero snow on the lake and we expect the upcoming weeks colder temps to only improve ice depths even more.

We still have availability on most weekends in January and February, as well as during the week.  Give us a call to book your next sleeper or day house. 218-820-3640

February 12th, 2024

With the risk of sounding like a broken record, fishing was fantastic and ice making was not during the past week.  Ice in the Goose Island area is still a pretty consistent 13-16".  We are patiently waiting for the cold weather to move in and hopefully improve ice conditions as we currently have no snow to deal with whatsoever.

As for the bite, Perch fishing was very good with most renters again seeing good numbers of perch in the 9-11" range, with a few 12" to even 13" being reported.  Best depths have been in 14 to 15' out away from shallow water structure which turns from sand to mud.  JIgging spoons of gold or silver color tipped with a whole minnow worked best to keep active perch around, with set lines and a plain hook producing as well.  A few nice walleyes were caught during the evening and overnight hours on set lines with a rainbow or fathead minnow. Tip ups with bigger minnows such as rainbows or sucker minnows provided most of the bigger walleye action.

Pike have been abundant still with most fish caught being in the protected 22-26" slot limit.  A few fish over 26" were caught on large sucker minnows set on tip ups out away from the rental houses.  Tulibees have started to show up in the deeper water areas where we are fishing perch and have provided anglers with another option of fish to keep.

We have limited availability for the upcoming weekend.  If you'd like to book during the week or for the last weekend of game fish season give us a call or send us a message and we can get you all set up!

February 4th, 2024

Once again, the Walker area was greated with well above average normal temperatures.  Ice making is basically non existent these days, however the recent warmth has been accompanied by clouds so very little damage if any at all has been done to the ice.  We are still operating on a consistent 12-16 inches of clear, hard ice in the Pine Point area along with less being reported in certain specific areas south and east of Goose Island, and on the very north tip of Goose Island.  This was the open water area we waited for so long to finally freeze back in early January.  There does look to be a glimmer of hope for some more ice making weather moving in towards next week so we are keeping our fingers crossed for now.

Fishing was once again spectacular for Perch out of Andersons Pine Point Resort.  Limits of jumbos being reported by many renters and also anglers using the access was common throughout the entire weekend.  A few perch this weekend measured over 13', and most keeping size were in the 10-11.5" range.  Gold buckshot jigging spoons with a fathead were most productive, with a simple set line and a #6 orange or green plain hook coming in a close second.  A few Walleyes were caught in the evening and overnight hours on set lines.  Once again, green or glow color jigs seemed to be the most productive.  Many Pike were caught with a few seen over the 26" protected slot limit.

We still have availability for sleepers or day houses for the upcomimg weekend.  Send us a message or give us a call to book your weekend stay!

January 28th, 2024

Not a great week for ice making by any means, but the fishing more than made up for it with a pretty spectacular bite in the Goose Island area out of Andersons Pine Point Resort.  We have multiple updated ice maps posted but most areas have a consistent 12-16 inches in areas we have our houses.  There are still a few places where the open water was around the island 2.5 weeks ago that have less, especially in areas where snow has drifted a bit.  We will continue to monitor these areas moving forward and update what we find.

As for the fishing, most renters this week and weekend were treated to a consistent perch bite during the morning, afternoon and evening hours.  The best bite came from 13-15ft of water off of the edge of main structures.  Gold jigging spoons or anything with a little bit of flash tipped with a minnow head seemed to be most productive. A few walleyes were caught during the evening and overnight hours from renters using set lines or rattle reels with a plain hook and a fathead or rainbow minnow.  Pike have been abundant, although most caught have been in the protected 22-26" slot.

We still have a few openings for the upcoming weekend.  Give us a call or send us a message to book your sleeper or day house!

January 21, 2024

Our recent cold weather spell slowed the bite a bit overall throughout the week but improved our ice conditions.  Currently we have anywhere from 7-14 inches of ice out of Andersons Pine Point Resort.  In most areas, a solid 11-13 can be found but in areas where there was open water 2 weeks ago is where you can find 7-8 hidden under what little snowdrifts we have.  This area runs approximately 500 yds wide south of Goose Island running on a line to the tip of Pine Point. Reports coming from Traders Bay, Stoney Point and the Whipholt area are reporting a bit better ice conditions in the 12-15 inch range.  Walker Bay ice reports still range from 6-11 inches so only atv and side by side traffic is advised at this time.

As for the bite, best reports came from dead sticks in 13-15 ft of water in the Grand Vu flats area.  It seems as getting off the edge of structure outproduced fishing the tops of structure in shallower water.  Set lines with a single plain hook and a fathead or rainbow minnow was best this week for perch and walleyes.  Tip ups with a medium sucker minnow produced all week for customers targeting Pike with a few fish being caught in the 30" range.  Walker Bay reports are starting to come in but still limited at this time with a few Walleyes being reported in the Cedar Point area in 18-24 feet.

We still have availability for sleepers and day houses for the upcoming weekend.  Give us a call or send us a message to book during the upcoming nice weather.

January 14th, 2024

After a long wait, we finally had renters on the ice this weekend.  Fridged temps mid week through the weekend improved ice conditions greatly not only on Leech Lake but lakes all over the state.  Currently we are sitting on a consistent 9-11 inches of ice in most areas except in areas where open water existed during the early part of the week around Goose Island.  What was open water a week ago today finally froze over on Tuesday night and is still an area of caution at this point.  We will be monitoring and checking that ice daily as it continues to improve each day.

As for fishing, the Perch bite was very good overall for the weekend.  Most renters were able to go home with a couple limits of 9-11 in perch along with a few 12 and even 13 inchers reported.  Full fathead or rainbow minnows on set lines were best bets with a single #6 plain hook.  The walleye report was decent with most fish coming during the evening and overnight hours on set lines or some kind of reaction bait such as a jigging rap or rippin rap.  Lots of Pike action throughout the day and (surprisingly) evening hours also occured with most fish however caught were in the protected 22-26inch slot limit.  A few bonus eelpout also were caught throughout the weekend during the evening hours.

We still have a few rentals available for next weekend.  We are currently still limited to sxs and wheeler traffic as of now but will update as things change throughout the week.  Give us a call or send us a message too book with us now that we have officially started the 2024 season!

February 26th, 2023

After somewhat dodging last week's blizzard, ice and snow conditions remain relatively the same as last week. Off road travel on the main lake still remains somewhat difficult in many areas where drifting has occurred. Ice depths of 20-24 inches reported in almost all areas of the lake.  In Walker Bay, the snow remains pretty much settled to an average of 4-6 inches in most areas making off road traffic possible throughout most of the bay.

Main Lake - the Perch bite took somewhat of a hit this week as extreme cold and pressure changes fluctuated rapidly.  Gregs Breakline, Goose Island area and the Snake Pits Flats were top producers once again in the morning and evening hours.  Best depths have been off the top of structures where it breaks into deep water along the sand to mud transition bottom areas.  Walleye reports have picked up as well during the morning and evening hours actively jigging glow in the dark spoons or with dead sticks or tip ups set close to bottom with a plain hook and rainbow minnow.

Walker Bay - Once again, the Sand Point area was best for Perch during the morning hours in 7-10 feet.  A decent Walleye bite in the evening and early morning has also been happening along the deeper breaklines of Sand and Cedar Point in 18-24ft.  Green glow or Orange glow jigging spoons tipped with any minnow head have worked best.
Cedar Point, Breezy Point and Templar Point have all been producers of an Eelpout bite during the evening hours on the sharpest breaklines in 25-40ft.

Thank you to everyone who fished with us this winter.  Overall it was a successful season weather and fishing-wise.  We hope to see you again next winter. Tight lines everyone!

February 19th, 2023

Ice and snow conditions remain relatively the same as last week with 18-24 inches being reported in almost all areas of the lake.  Snow has settled quite nicely in Walker Bay making off road traffic possible in most areas.  Main lake snow conditions, even though improved, are still limited as drifting and snow depths still remain in the 6-10" range.  Drifts of higher ranges are still being reported in some areas.

Main Lake - once again, the perch bite has been good to great in areas such as Gregs Breakline, Goose Island area and Grand View Flats on the northwest side of the main lake.  Best depths have been off the top of structures where it breaks into deep water along the sand to mud transition bottom areas.  Walleye reports have picked up as well during the morning and evening hours actively jigging glow in the dark spoons or with dead sticks set close to bottom with a plain hook and rainbow minnow.  A decent whitefish and Tulibee bite has been happening out of Stoney Point in the Paris Trench area in 24-30ft during the evening and overnight hours.  Eelpout reports still remain limited on the main lake as most have moved towards deep water for the spawning season about to occur.

Walker Bay - the Sand Point area was once best again for Perch during the day and a decent Walleye bite in the evening and early morning.  The best action is coming from 10-12 feet during the day for Perch in sand to weed transition areas.  Walleyes have been most active on the edges of the south breakline in 12-18 ft of water. Green glow or Orange glow jigging spoons tipped with any minnow head have worked best. Cedar Point, Breezy Point and Templar Point have all been producers of an Eelpout bite during the evening hours on the sharpest breaklines in 25-40ft.

We still have limited openings for the last week and weekend of game fish season.  Give us a call or send us a message to book your next sleeper or day house on Leech Lake before the seasons over!

February 12th, 2023

Ice conditions across Walker Bay and the Main Lake have improved to a consistent 18-24 inches or better. is being found now.  Snow depths still remain in the 6" to to a foot or more in some areas making off road traffic limited.  Walker Bay snow conditions are considerably better with smaller snow depths and most 4 wheel drive or UTV vehicles are able to get around off of main plowed ice roads.

Main Lake - the perch bite has been very good as of late. The Snake Pits, Little Hardwoods and West Goose flats were all producers of a solid perch bite over the week and weekend. Morning and evening hours were best with jigging spoons tipped with a minnow head being most productive. Walleyes have been hit or miss with the best reports coming out of deeper water off the edge of breaklines in 18-20 fow.  A decent walleye bite has also been reported in the Submarine/Annex Reef area as well in 12-14ft.

Walker Bay - the Sand Point area was best again during the week for perch and walleye.  Depths varied but most consistent reports came from 12-14 feet of water along sand to weed transition areas.  A few eelpout are starting to show up along the Cedar Point area along the sharper breaklines in 20-35 feet of water. Actively jigging bright glow spoons with multiple minnows have been the best producers in the overnight hours.

We still have a few rentals available as we move towards the end of the season, especially during the weekdays.  Give us a call or send us a message to book your next ice fishing trip on Leech Lake!

February 5th, 2023

Last weeks sub zero weather helped improve ice conditions across Walker Bay and the Main Lake.  A consistent 16-20 inches of ice or better is being found now in most areas across the lake.  Snow depths still remain in the 6" to 2 feet range on the main lake where areas of drifted snow has occurred still making off road traffic difficult.  Walker Bay snow conditions are considerably better with smaller snow depths.  Most 4 wheel drive vehicles are able to get around with houses off of main plowed ice roads.

Main Lake - the perch bite has been good all over the Northwest side of the lake.  Areas such as Grand View flats, the Snake Pits and Gregs Breakline have all been consistently producing keeper size perch with some sorting having to be done.  Dead sticks and a single plain hook worked best during the week during the extreme cold weather. Walleyes have been hitting during the evening hours in the Ottertail Point area out of Acorn Hill's plowed ice roads.  A decent walleye bite has also been reported in the Submarine/Annex Reef area as well.

Walker Bay - the Sand Point area was best during the week for perch and walleye.  Depths varied but most consistent reports came from 12-14 feet of water along sand to weed transition areas.  A few eelpout are starting to show up along the Cedar Point area along the sharper breaklines in 20-35 feet of water.  This bite should pick up as we move further into February and closer to the eelpout spawning season.

We still have a few rentals available for the last month of the season, especially during the weekdays.  Give us a call or send us a message to book your next ice fishing trip on Leech Lake!

January 29th, 2023

Here is your weekly updated fishing report from Leech Lake Fish House Rentals

Main Lake - ice conditions on the lake are still sitting in the 15-18 inch range in most areas.  Snow and drifting snow is still making travel off of plowed roads difficult.  Resorts that have plowed roads right now include Trappers Landing, Horseshoe Bay Resort, Acorn Hill Resort and Andersons Pine Point resort.  Contact them or follow on social media for updated road conditions and maps.

Perch have been cooperating very well in the Goose Island area out of Andersons Pine Point Resort over the past week with many reports of coming in of consistent action in the Snake Pits and Grand View Flats areas in 13-15ft.  Walleye reports are limited with most catches coming in the evening or overnight hours on dead sticks with a fathead or shiner minnow.  Northern Pike in these areas have also been plentiful during the day, however most being caught are in the protected slot of 22-26" range.  A few bonus Eelpout are still being caught in the overnight hours as well.

Walker Bay - ice conditions in the bay continue to improve day by day.  Most areas areas are seeing a consistent 16-20" of ice.  Snow amounts have settled nicely and off road traffic is possible in most areas.  The best walleye bite sounds to be in the Sand Point and Cedar Point areas along edges of deeper water in 16-20ft.  A decent perch bite still exits in the shallower flats areas of Sand point in the 10-12ft depths in the sand to sand grass transition areas.  A few Eelpout are being caught along the sharp breaklines of Cedar Point and Breezy point as well.

We still have a few rentals available for the upcoming weeekend.  Send us a message or give us a call for availability.  218-820-3640.

January 15th, 2023

As of today, we are seeing a consistent 16-18 inches of ice in and around the Goose Island area. Areas that were flooded earlier have now healed nicely and ice depths are actually closer to 20 inches in those areas. Snow amounts have settled a bit finally and ice is slowly but surely being made almost everywhere on the lake.  There is still enough snow on the main lake that travel off road is limited.  Most areas are fine for 4wd vehicles but there are still a few drifts from time to time that will hang up even those vehicles.

Main Lake - the bite over the last week has been good to great for most of our renters for Perch.  There is still some sorting that has to be done throughout the day.  Best depths seemed to be in the 13-15ft range along the edges of breaklines of 10 ft structure.  JIgging green or gold Northland Buckshot rattle spoons with a minnow head was best, along with a set line or dead stick near by to finish off the more finicky biters.  For dead sticks, fatheads or rainbows of medium size provided the most consistency.  A few walleyes are still being caught in the overnight hours actively jigging reaction baits such as smaller jigging raps, salmo chubby darters or ripping raps.
Walker Bay - the Sand Point and Cedar Point shoreline breaks were top producers of the week for Perch and Walleyes.  Flats areas where weeds meet the sand in 10-12 ft were best for Perch while breaklines off the edges in 18--25ft were best for Walleyes in the evening and overnight hours.  A few fish are also showing up on some of the humps that top out in the 30ft range as well.
We still have limited availability for the rest of Jan and February.  Give us a call at 218-820-3640 or shoot us a message and we can get you booked yet for the remainder of the 2023 season!

January 8, 2023

Main Lake

Consistent weather improved the bite this week for our renters in the Goose Island area.  Most were able to fill a bucket with keeper size perch with some sorting having to be done.  Best depths were 12-14 ft around the Grand View Flats area.  Current ice reports area sitting in the 14-16 inch area of clear solid ice in most areas. The walleye bite slowed a bit this week for numbers but the best tactics were actively jigging during in the evening and overnight hours or tip ups set with larger minnows out away from the house.  The eelpout bite still remains present with most finding a fish or two during the overnight hours on set lines.

Limited reports out of Horseshoe Bay and Trappers Landing show reports of a few Walleyes being caught during the morning and evening hours in the Paris Trench area in 20-24 ft out of Stoney Point and in the Huddles Reef area in 16-18ft.  Ice conditions in those areas are in the 13-16 inch range.

Walker Bay

Improved ice conditions have increased traffic in Walker Bay.  Ice conditions are still ranging in the 13-15 inches in most areas with less and more being reported in isolated areas.  Cedar Point, Sand Point and Breezy Point have all been producing a few walleyes in the early morning and evening hours.  Best depths have been anywhere from 11-18 ft using anything in Green or Orange glow on set lines.  A decent perch bite has been reported in the Sand Point area in 9-11 ft on transition sand to weed transition areas.

The extended forecast looks great weather wise, give us a call or send us a message if you would like to book a sleeper or day house rental with us.  We still have openings for the next couple weeks.

1/1/2023

Happy New Year from Leech Lake Fish House Rental.  Ice conditions have improved well enough that half ton truck traffic is now allowed in most areas of Leech Lake.  The only exception is in areas of Walker Bay where reports of 9-10 inches are still being found.

Main Lake - The Pine Point and Grand View area currently has a consistent 13-15 inches of ice.  There is a main road started from Pine Point Resort that runs from shore to Goose Island.  On friday, a crack opened on the road resulting in the last half mile of road being closed heading north towards Goose Island.  Travel off the main road is limited to mainly UTV vehicles as the snow is still deep enough to hinder movement with vehicles.  Perch for the most part of all sizes have been plentiful in depths of 10-12 feet using fatheads or rainbows on set lines.  Walleyes have been most active during the night time hours actively jigging with reaction baits.

Traders Bay, Horseshoe Bay and Trappers Landing on the south end of the lake are all reporting similar ice conditions with Half ton vehicle traffic being allowed on plowed resort roads.  Travel off road is at your own risk.

Walker Bay - Ice reports vary in the Bay but most areas seem to have 9-10 inches of solid ice.  Travel at this point is still recommended to ATV or small vehicle traffic only.  Typical early ice areas such as Cedar Point, Sand Point and Breezy Point along breaklines in 14-18 ft have been most productive during the evening hours.  Green or Orange glow jigging spoons with a minnow head of any kind are producing most fish.

As ice and snow conditions improve moving forward we will have a more thorough report for everyone.  Overall it was a great first week of activity over the holidays to get a start on the season!

We still have availability for the upcoming week and weekend for our sleepers or day houses.  Give us a call to book soon as houses are filling fast.

2/20/22

It's almost becoming comical at this point, but yet another weekend blizzard hindered much if any at all movement on Leech Lake. A fresh inch of snow followed by 50mph wind gusts on Friday created whiteout conditions leaving many areas completely impossible.

Main Lake - A few areas in Sucker Bay, Horseshoe Bay and Traders Bay yielded a few walleyes and a few jumbo perch in 18-22ft along areas of mud bottom.  Most productive areas were the Deadhead Bay area and Duck Point. The shallow water eelpout bite has seemed to slow down which is expected for this time of year as they head towards spawning areas. Snow amounts now in most areas of the main lake are in the 12-16 inch range with higher amounts in drifted areas.

Walker Bay reports limited activity with off road travel difficult as well. A few walleyes were caught in the Cedar Point area along the sharper breaks in 22-30 ft. A few eelpout are being caught in those same areas as well.

We will be pulling our houses off for the year after the weekend as conditions look to get more challenging with the forecasted snow this week. We will continue to provide reports on the bite and conditions as time permits until we have open water.

2/13/22

Wind and snow ruled the week once again.  A fresh 4-5 inches of snow followed by 40mph gusts of wind on friday created a headache for everyone trying to fish this last weekend.  With that said, here is your current ice and fishing report for Leech Lake.

Main Lake - Conditions out of Andersons Pine Point Resort have deteriorated a bit over the last week.  Ice conditions are good and in the 22-26 inch range, but new snow and wind have made off road traffic nearly impossible.  Resorts all over the lake have been busy trying to plow new roads out of accesses all over the lake.  Fishing reports early in the week were strong with the perch bite getting better each day.  Best depths were in the 16-18 foot breakline along the duck point areas using a plain hook and a rainbow chub.  Walleye reports have been mostly limited to a fish or two during the overnight hours in 13-15 ft.  Northern Pike remain active in the area as always, however most fish being caught now are in the protected slot of 22-26 inches.

Walker Bay - conditions in the bay have remained the same.  Lots of snow and some flooding occurring in certain areas of freshly plowed roads.  Ice depths range from 16-18 inches in most areas, however the weight of the snow especially when piled up on the sides of roads from plowing is what has been causing most flooding.  The best walleye bite is coming from the Cedar Point and Breezy point areas along the sharpest breaks in 20-28ft of water.  A few limited reports in the Sand Point area in the 10ft range have been reported as well.  A few eelpout are starting to show up in the overnight hours along sharp shoreline breaks in Walker Bay as well using bright glow spoons and 2-3 minnows.

We are completely booked for this weekend, but still have limited availability for the last weekend of February.  Give us a call to book your next sleeper or day house rental.

2/6/22

More wind.  It seems as though the wind blows every day now.  Make roads, roads fill in, re-make roads, wind changes, start all over.  So goes the winter of 2022.  With the additional 2-4 inches of snow and wind travel off roads is now almost impossible for most vehicles.

Main Lake - Fishing reports from our rentals over the weekend were pretty good.  It seems as though everyone left with a solid fish fry of perch, along with a bonus walleye or two.  Jigging green or orange glow spoons and set lines with a plain hook and a fathead seemed to be the best producers. Ice conditions continue to improve with 20-24 inches in most areas and really little to no flooding occuring.  The best area this weekend around the 1st and 2nd duck point areas in 16-20 ft.  A few reports of perch being caught in the Snake Pits area have been reported as well.

Walker Bay - There is still some flooding and slush happening in the bay but if you can find your way out of the maze of roads and snowbanks a few fish are still being caught.  The best areas seem to consitently be the Cedar and Sand Point areas along the steeper breaklines.  A few perch are starting to be caught in shallow water in the Sand Point area as well.  Look for the eelpout bite to increase as they move into deeper water preparing for spawn.

If you are looking to get out with us, we still have limited availability in sleepers and day houses, especially during the middle of the week.  Give us a call to book your next Leech Lake outing.

1/30/2022

Lots of wind and wind direction changes kept things interesting this week on Leech Lake.  One day the wind blows out of the south, the next it blows out of the north.  Many road repairs or even new roads were required towards the end of the week  to keep everyone able to get around to their favorite fishing areas by the weekend.

Main Lake - it seems as though we have plowed roads now to areas we haven't been to during the ice season in years.  Areas now accessible include Deadhead Bay in Sucker Bay, Duck Point, Snake Pits, Grand View Flats and Big Hardwoods.  Ice conditions range from 16-20 inches in most areas.  Snow depths vary from 6 inches to close to 2ft in certain areas due to drifting so use caution and bring a shovel if traveling off road.

Perch reports increased over the last few days, which is a good sign. This bite should only continue to pick up as we move into February.  Sucker Bay along the east and west shoreline breaks in 13-16 ft reported the best bite.  Still some sorting that needs to be done but with some patience a good number of keeper size perch are available with sizes up to 12 inches possible.  Walleye reports actually picked up as well in the same areas, with keeper size walleyes being reported on dead sticks during the overnight hours on larger sucker minnows.

Walker Bay - Ice conditions remain relatively the same with the average ice depth around 12-14 inches.  Snow conditions are still causing some flooding in and around plowed roads and areas of bigger fish houses.  Reports of a few walleyes being caught still in the deeper shoreline break areas using glow spoons in the morning and evening hours. Cedar Point, Sand Point and Breezy Point all reported a decent bite.  A few eelpout are starting to show up for those targeting them, the best reports are still coming from shallow water using bright glow spoons in 10-15 feet.

We still have limited availability for the month of February.  The perch bite is about to get HOT so book your sleeper or day house soon!

1/23/22

Lots of wind and a little snow, combined with crazy winds made conditions difficult on Leech Lake this week.  Most resorts after Wednesday spend the rest of the week re plowing or making new roads to their destination areas.  Throughout everything, here is your current ice and fishing report.

Main Lake - Ice conditions throughout the main lake remain in very good shape. Most places are seeing 18-20 inches of solid ice.  Travel conditions off road however, remain a little difficult.  Snow depths in most areas remain around a foot, and higher in areas that are drifted. Fishing reports seemed to improve throughout the week especially for Perch.  Out of Andersons Pine Point, most rentals this weekend reported good to above average numbers of keeper sized perch along with a few true jumbos showing themselves finally.  Walleye reports seemed to be on the slow side, while northern pike still remained very active.  There are also a few eelpout still being caught during the overnight hours. The most productive areas where Grand View Flats in 11-12 ft of water using fatheads or a rainbow minnow.

Walker Bay - Ice conditions still stay relatively the same with 12-15 inches of ice being reported in most areas.  There is still quite a bit of flooding happening in areas with plowed roads due to snow conditions so caution is advised while traveling via vehicle.  Walleye activity seemed to be best still in shoreline structures extending out towards deeper water in 18-25ft.  The perch bite has picked up in the Sand Point and Steamboat Bay areas during the mid day hours. A dead stick and full minnow on a plain hook in 10ft of water out produced actively jigging.

1/16/22

It was a very busy weekend on Leech Lake.  Reports of a slower bite on Lake of the Woods, Red and Mille Lacs seemed to have increased the traffic in the area.  Here is your current report for the area.

Main Lake - ice conditions are good for most vehicles as of this weekend.  Reports out of Pine Point, Traders Bay, Horseshoe Bay and the south basin are seeing 18-22 inches of ice in most areas.  Snow conditions are still in the range where off road traffic (especially if pulling a fish house) are difficult.  Resorts with plowed roads currently include Andersons Pine Point Resort, Acorn Hill Resort, Horseshoe Bay Resort and Trappers Landing.  If you'd like a plowed spot please contact the resort that you are going to be using, most of them have connections to someone who can plow you a spot.
Fishing reports from this week were that the bite was a bit slower than normal for walleyes.  Perch however have been consistent in the Goose Island areas however staying mobile was key to putting numbers of jumbos together. Gold or silver spoons with a full minnow was the best producer.

Walker Bay - ice conditions in the bay range from 12-14 inches in most spots.  Some minor flooding is occurring on plowed roads and conditions depending on the day varies.  Off road travel is difficult as well.  There area a few plowed roads going out of Cochorans Marina and the Ericksons Landing accesses, but are not being maintained daily.  Fishing reports were varied from most anglers, but a few walleyes are still being caught off the deeper structure of shoreline breaks and points.  Green or Orange glow spoons were once again the best producers in the early morning or evening hours.

We still have limited availability for the rest of January and February.  Give us a call to book your next sleeper or day rental on Leech Lake!

1/9/22

Another week of snow, wind, extreme low temps followed by a day or two of stable weather has produced mixed fishing reports from Leech Lake.

Main Lake - Snow conditions have limited travel a bit.  Some drifting has occurred which is limiting off road mobility with vehicles.  Current ice conditions in the Pine Point / Goose Island / Traders Bay area are currently in the 16-18 inch range.  Most if not all traffic is now being done with vehicles.  The Stoney Point / Horseshoe Bay area has been battling a few ice heaves for travel to certain areas but conditions are relatively similar. Fishing reports have been of a decent bite in the morning and evening hours for Walleyes.  Jigging spoons in green or orange glow have produced best.  Perch have started showing up as of late, look for long expansive flat areas in 9-11 ft of water during mid day hours for your best action of jumbos.  During the extreme cold swings set lines with a plain hook and shiner minnow have outproduced actively jigging for both Walleyes and Perch.

Walker Bay - Ice conditions have improved some, however with the increased snow conditions there are some flooding issues occurring.  Most areas are sitting at 11-13 inches of ice with limited vehicle traffic being used in plowed areas only.  As far as the fishing, reports of dead sticks with shiners or rainbow chubs are working best for walleyes during the early morning and late evening / overnight hours.  20-28 ft on the edge of main shoreline structure areas have been the best depths. A few walleyes are being caught on the north end of the bay in the 10-12 ft area as well around Sand Point.
We still have limited availability for the remainder of January and February.  Give us a call to book your next sleeper or day rental soon!

1/3/2022

Happy New Year!

Ice conditions continue to improve as extreme cold temps settled in over the New Years holiday.  We received roughly 18 inches of snow before the cold, but now has settled to roughly a foot in most areas off of our main ice roads.  A consistent 15-17 inches of ice is being found in the Pine Point / Grand View Flats / Goose Island area.  To this point, no major flooding has occurred as the snow is pretty light weight.  Fishing throughout the week took somewhat of a dive from the storm and cold for numbers of fish, but the quality of fish caught seemed to have increased.  The perch bite is seeming to show itself a bit, but there does not seem to be any type of consistent pattern other than drilling lots of holes and staying on the move to find numbers in quantity.  Hopefully the brief warmer weather will help improve the bite.

Walker Bay ice conditions are slowly improving.  Most areas of the bay are measuring 10-12 inches of ice, with about a foot of snow on top of that.  Caution is still advised while traveling so check ice as you go.  ATV / UTV and snowmobile traffic is still all that is advised at this time.  The Walleye bite has been best during the evening hours on deadsticks with Rainbow or Shiner minnows.  18-25 fow seemed to be the best depths for active and fish of any quality.

We still have limited availability for the month of January and February.  Please give us a call, email or text to book with us!

Happy Holidays from Leech Lake Fish House Rentals!

Ice conditions are slowly improving as we head towards the New Year.  Up and down temps throughout the week did not create much additional ice but we are still in pretty good shape given it's only the end of December.  A significant snowfall event is supposed to happen tonight through this Tuesday so stay tuned for updates.  Here's what we know as of right now:

Main Lake - the Pine Point / Goose Island area is currently sitting at 12-14 inches of ice in most areas.  We have started the ice road out of Andersons Pine Point Resort and are currently allowing half ton or smaller trucks with single axle wheel houses access to this area out to Goose Island.  Sucker Bay has reports of good ice as well with 13-15 inches in most areas throughout. Stoney Point reports similar ice conditions, however there are a few heaves restricting access to many popular areas.  Caution is advised while traveling, please check ice as you go.

Walker Bay - conditions in the bay continue to slowly improve daily with 6-9 inches off shore and as much as 10-11 reported in some areas close to shore and in Steamboat Bay. The Sand Point area is sitting with a pretty consistent 8-10 inches of ice as well. With the incoming snow, look for some of these areas to have some flooding in the days ahead.  At this time ATV and Snowmobile traffic is all that is advised.

As for fishing, the bite seems to be average to above average for most anglers.  A good selection of multi species seems to be present in many areas.  Green glow Northland Buckshot spoons area producing for Walleyes, as well as Perch.  An active Eelpout bite has shown up during the evening and overnight hours in the Grand View Flats area out of Pine Point. Northern Pike have been very active in all areas of shallow water as well.  Try a medium to large size sucker minnow under a tip-up for those fish larger than 26" out of the slot.

We have limited availability still moving into January.  Give us a call to book your sleeper or day house for January or February!

12/8/21

UPDATE! Walker Bay on Leech Lake is now locked up as of last night. We are also happy to report that about half of the snow we received Saturday and Sunday has blown off the main part of the lake. This evening a quick ice check and scouting mission out of Andersons Pine Point Resort showed us a pretty consistent 7 to 8 inches of ice in that area. It shouldn't be long now until we have our road started and smaller sleepers out on the ice. We will keep you updated throughout the ice making progress and when we will have rentals available. We are starting to book up fast for weekends, make sure you get your sleeper or day house booked now before it's too late!

2/22/21

Bitterly cold temps at the beginning of the week eventually gave way to highs in the 20s and 30s towards the weeks end. Even with the cold, we had renters reporting a very good perch bite throughout the mid morning and early afternoon hours. Currently, we still have plowed ice roads to Goose Island, the Snake Pits, Little Hardwoods, West Goose Flats, Grand View F/lats, Stoney Point and the west side of the Paris Trench.

Fishing reports from in the Pine Point area still remain strong for those targeting Perch. We are still focusing our houses on areas of sand grass to sand transition areas in 11-14 ft of water. A few reports of deeper water bites have been reported as well in the 15-20 foot range.  Walleye reports are limited with those catching are coming in the early morning or overnight hours.  Anglers who were most successful with numbers were using gold or silver jigging spoons during the day, with something of UV or glow colors during the low light periods.

Walker Bay ice conditions now seem pretty stable with ice conditions in the12-16 inch range in most areas. Sand Point and Cedar Point have still been the best producing areas for walleyes and perch on shoreline breaks in 14-18ft or on the secondary breaks of 24-28ft. Green and Orange glow jigs are your best bet with a rainbow or shiner minnow.

We still have some availability for the last weekend of walleye season.  We will be keeping a select few houses out until the second weekend of March for perch season.  Give us a call or send us a message to book your sleeper or day house before the season is over!

2/7/21

It was a bitterly cold week/weekend on Leech Lake. Temperatures overnight in the mid 20's below zero, wind and daytime highs not even reaching zero made it difficult for moving around. We still have plowed ice roads to Goose Island, the Snake Pits, Little Hardwoods, West Goose Flats, Grand View Flats, Stoney Point and the west side of the Paris Trench.

Fishing reports from in the Pine Point area still remain strong for those targeting Perch.  A few walleyes are mixed in but numbers seem to be getting tougher by the week.  Anglers who were most successful found the best bite for perch by using a larger fathead on a jigging spoon of almost any color, along with the willingness to do some sorting in between the waves of "keeper size" perch that seem to show up at different times of the day.  12-14 ft seemed to be the best depths during the cold front.  Walleye reports have been fairly limited with a few fish being caught during the primetime and overnight hours on rattle reels and or dead sticks.

Walker Bay ice conditions are still slowly improving with anywhere from 8-16 inches of ice being now found in most spots. Sand Point and Cedar Point have still been the best producing areas for walleyes and perch on shoreline breaks in 14-18ft or on the secondary breaks of 24-28ft. Green and Orange glow jigs are your best bet with a rainbow or shiner minnow.

We still have some availability for the month of February.  Give us a call or send us a message to book your sleeper or day house before the season is over!

1/31/21

Once again, we had a busy and great weather week on Leech Lake. Temperatures during the early part of the week were great for some additional ice making, only improving conditions across the main lake and Walker Bay.  We now have plowed ice roads to Goose Island, the Snake Pits, Little Hardwoods, West Goose Flats, Grand View Flats, Stoney Point and the west side of the Paris Trench. There is a heave that is running north and south that basically divides the Trench in half, we will be working on a way to cross that in the next few days .

Fishing reports from the main lake have mainly consisted of a slower bite than what we've seen the last few weeks. Anglers who were most successful found most fish that were willing to cooperate were by using deadsticks and a plain hook in the morning and evening hours.  Once again, the best reports were from the anglers who were targeting perch in the 9-12 ft range throughout the entire lake and were willing to stay patient.  Walleye reports have been limited with a few larger walleyes being caught in the overnight hours on rattle reels and or dead sticks.

Walker Bay ice conditions are still slowly improving with 8-13 inches of ice being now found in most spots. There are a few roads plowed however atv and snowmobile traffic is still recommended. Cedar and Sand Point have still been the go to areas with most reports of a decent perch and walleye bite during the morning and evening primtetime hours.  Shoreline breaks in 14-18ft or on the secondary breaks of 24-28ft. Green and Orange glow jigs are your best bet with a rainbow or shiner minnow.

We still have limited availability for the month of February.  Give us a call or send us a message to book your sleeper or day house before the season is over!

1/24/21

Another busy and great weather week on Leech Lake.  Our ice road out of Andersons Pine Point still leads to fishable areas around Goose Island, Pine Point, Snake Pits and Little and Big Hardwoods areas. We plan to extend the road early this coming week to the Stoney Point area including the Trench, as well as north of Big Hardwoods.  Stay tuned for further updates regarding our ice roads. 4x4 travel off road is still possible with a snow base of around 6-8 inches off our main roads.

Fishing still remains strong on the main part of the lake in the Goose Island area.  Almost all of our renters reported a strong Perch bite throughout the day.  Areas of 10-13ft seemed best with reports coming in from shallower water such as 8-10ft with the same success.  The walleye bite has slowed a little however there are still a few being caught during the morning and evening primetime hours.  Gold, Green and Orange colors still have been working best, mainly on set lines or tip ups using bigger rainbow chubs or lite pike sucker minnows.

Walker Bay ice conditions are slowly improving with 8-13 inches of ice being now found in most spots.  Walleyes have been active in the morning and evening hours along shoreline breaks in 14-18ft.  A few of the mid bay humps are kicking out fish throughout the day in 25-35 ft.  Sand Point remains productive for both Perch and Walleyes in transition areas of weeds and sand in 11-13 ft.

We still have limited availability for the month of February.  Give us a call or send us a message to book your sleeper or day house before the season is over!

1/18/21

Overall, we had a pretty solid week on Leech Lake.. We are currently still operating out of Anderson's Pine Point Resort where we have multiple plowed ice roads leading out in multiple areas.  We've found a way to get north of Goose Island all the way up in to the Little and Big Hardwood area which has greatly expanded our territory.  Ice conditions have improved this week with most areas now measuring at 13-16 inches off the plowed roads. Our ice roads are currently holding 18+ inches of ice.

For Walker Bay, we have found anywhere from 8 to 13 inches of ice so please use extreme caution into new areas. Please travel at your own risk and check ice as you go. As far as fishing, Cedar Point and Sand Point have still your best bet for Walleyes and Perch using Rainbows, Golden Shiners and Fatheads. Bottom transition areas of sand to sand grass have been the best areas in 10-12 or 16-20ft.

On the main lake, the Pine Point / Goose Island area in 11-13 ft close to deeper water has been the best bet for jumbo perch and a walleye or two during morning and evening primetime hours. Big Rock Reef in 14-18ft or the Paris trench area in 22-26ft out of Horseshoe Bay have been producing Walleyes during the overnight hours.

We still have a few openings for day or sleeper houses for the rest of the month of January and February.  Give us a call at 218-820-3640 to book your next outing!

1/10/21

Its been a crazy week on Leech Lake!  Renters enjoyed fantastic fishing through all this great weather we've been having lately.  We are currently still operating out of Anderson's Pine Point Resort where we have multiple plowed ice roads leading out in multiple areas, including the Snake Pits.  Ice conditions have improved gradually despite the warmer weather with 12-14 inches of ice in most areas.  Our ice roads are currently holding 15+ inches of ice.

For Walker Bay, most areas now have 10+ inches of ice, but there are still a few areas we have not checked.  Please travel at your own risk and check ice as you go.  It is still mainly ATV and snomobile traffic, with a few smaller vehicles now starting to operate around the shoreline breaks.  Cedar Point and Sand Point have still been the most consistent areas for both Walleyes and Perch in 10-12 ft of water, or off the secondary breaklines in 16-20 ft.  Rainbows, Golden Shiners and Fatheads have all been working.  There are a few people spearing and angling for panfish in the Shingobee area with moderate success.

On the main lake, the Pine Point / Goose Island area in 12-14 ft as well as Big Rock Reef in 14-18ft out of Horseshoe Bay have been producing Walleyes during the day and through the night.  Many larger fish have been caught throughout the night with primetime hours providing more keeping size fish.  A green or orange buckshot tipped with a minnow head or set lines with large rainbow chubs or light pike minnows have been solid producers.  There have been a few limited reports coming out of the Whipholt and Brevick area with some success in shallow water during the evening.

We still have a few openings for day or sleeper houses for the rest of the month of January.  Give us a call at 218-820-3640 to book your next outing!  Check out our facebook page for pictures of recent customer pictures!

1/3/2021

Happy New Year. Here's your latest fishing and ice report from Leech Lake Fish House Rentals.

Ice conditions remain relatively the same as temperatures have remained steady through the week. Most of the main lake has a consistent 11-14 inches of ice with a snow cover of around 3 to 4 inches.  As of now, the only vehicle traffic that is being allowed is out of Andersons Pine Point Resort.

Walker Bay Ice conditions are currently sitting at 8-10 inches in the sand point area, as well as the south end shoreline breaks. The rest of the bay mostly consists of 6-9 inches of ice.  Use caution and check ice as you go as thickness has varied in many areas. Atv or foot traffic only is recommended at this time.

Fishing remains very consistent throughout the lake.  For Walker Bay, try Sand Point during the day in 10-12ft for Perch and Walleye.  Glow spoons in green or orange remained the best colors this week.  A shiner or rainbow on a set line was also a solid producer.  There has also been a consistent Walleye bite right out of City Park and also the Cedar Point area for Walleyes in the morning and evening hours in 18 - 25 ft.

For the main lake, try the Grand View flats area out of Andersons Pine Point Resort for a consistent daytime perch bite, including a morning and evening bite for Walleyes in 12-14 ft.  Set lines or tip ups are currently outproducing actively jigging.  Rainbow chubs and Golden Shiners have been top producers.  Stoney Point and Horseshoe Bay areas have also been producing walleyes mainly during the evening and overnight hours.  Limited reports out of Portage Bay have shown a decent bite for Perch and Walleyes in the Battle and Sugar Point areas.

Panfishing reports have been limited, look to some of the smaller lakes in the immediate area for better results for Crappies and Bluegills.

12/30/2020

Ice depths right now vary on Leech Lake. The main basin ice depths range from 10" to 14" depending on what part of the lake you are on. Andersons Pine Point Resort is currently allowing vehicle traffic out of their access. There is a heave restricting vehicle access beyond a line from Pine Point to Goose Island, over to the Hardwoods area.

Walker Bay currently is 5" to 8" with a few areas yet to be checked for ice thickness.. Please use caution while traveling and check ice often as you go.

Fishing has been very consistent so far in all areas of the lake. In Walker Bay, Sand Point has been a good bet for Walleyes and Perch in 10-12 ft. Cedar Point has also been producing walleyes during the morning and evening hours in 14-20' with set lines and a shiner or rainbow chub. Some pan fish have been active during the evening hours in Shingobee Bay as well.

The main lake in areas such as Pine Point, Traders Bay and Horseshoe Bay have all been a good bet for all species. Transition areas of clean bottom to chara grass have been the best bet in 11-13 ft. UV jigging spoons of just about any color have been top producers. Tip ups set just away from the shelter have also been working as it helps cover more area on some of these larger flats. For numbers of keeper size perch, staying mobile has been essential. One pleasant early surprise this year has been a very good day and night time eelpout bite in the Goose Island area via the same tactics used for Perch and Walleyes.
